(Fort McMurray, AB, November 24, 2014) - The Fort McMurray Ringette Association is celebrating Sports Day in Canada with the Aurora Ring Tournament, a three-day showcase of ringette taking place from November 28-30, in partnership with Big Spirit Wood Buffalo.

The Aurora Ring Tournament will feature teams from around Alberta competing in games to be played at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre and Anzac Recreation Centre presented by Nexen Energy, a CNOOC Limited Company. Included in the event is the opportunity for community members to try the sport with a ‘Come Try Ringette’ event at the Anzac Recreation Centre presented by Nexen Energy on Saturday, November 29 from 2:15 pm-3:30 pm. This event will include National Ringette League (NRL) players on the ice for a “Skate with the Pros” session. Interested individuals can get more information and sign up in advance to try ringette at cometryringette.ca.

The weekend will also feature games between National Ringette League teams Calgary RATH and Edmonton WAM! as follows:

  • November 29 at Noon at Anzac Recreation Centre presented by Nexen Energy
  • November 29 at 5:45 pm at Suncor Community Leisure Centre
  • November 30 at 11:00 am at Suncor Community Leisure Centre
