(Fort McMurray, AB, March 13, 2020) - In alignment with COVID-19 preparedness, the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) will be closing all RRC operated facilities to the public effective March 14, 2020. This includes the operation of MacDonald Island Park, the Anzac Recreation Centre, and the Conklin Multiplex.
Please know that these proactive and preventative measures have been put into place to ensure the safety of all community members who gather, play & connect in RRC facilities. As this is an ongoing and ever-changing situation, we’ll be monitoring and adjusting our plans and timeline accordingly. We recognize this closure directly affects our patrons and that you will have many questions regarding your membership, programs and events.
Q: Which RRC facilities are closed to the public?
A: All RRC facilities including MacDonald Island Park, Anzac Recreation Centre, and Conklin Multiplex.
Q: Why are RRC facilities closed to the public?
A: For the safety of our staff, members, and guests we are closing all RRC facilities due to the recommendations from Alberta Health Services to avoid large gatherings in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak.
Q: When will RRC facilities be re-opened to the public?
A: We currently do not have a re-open date, please check our website for all updates.
Q: How will this affect my RRC memberships?
A: All memberships including annual, corporate, continuous, monthly and punch pass holders, will be put on hold effective immediately including monthly payments. Q: Myself or my child are registered for programming, how will we be compensated for this?
A: All programs currently running will receive a prorated credit onto their account for the remaining classes. Refunds can be requested through MacDonald Island Park Guest Services at 780-791-0070, Anzac Recreation Centre Guest Services at 780-793-6900, and Conklin Multiplex Guest Services 780-793-6970 in the form of a cheque.
Q: How does this affect user group bookings such as leagues and tournaments?
A: All immediate user group bookings are cancelled. The RRC team will be reaching out to these leagues with more information. Refunds can be requested through MacDonald Island Park Guest Services at 780-791-0070, Anzac Recreation Centre Guest Services at 780-793-6900, and Conklin Multiplex Guest Services 780-793-6970 in the form of a cheque.
Q: I purchased a ticket to an RRC event, what should I do?
A: Ticketing for all RRC events has been paused. Should an event be postponed or cancelled you will be contacted by the MacDonald Island Park Box Office with more information.
